How you’ll make an impact:

The Bilingual Copyeditor for Spanish & English ensures that all Spanish language content published on our educational sites are free of errors in both Spanish and English. The ideal candidate combines exceptional grammar, keen attention to detail, and a passion for education to ensure the highest caliber of content is published to our site for the best education for children, thus contributing to our mission.

What you’ll do:

  • Copyedit a diverse range of education materials in both English and Spanish, including:
    • Video scripts and edited videos
    • Closed captioning
    • Lesson PDFs and answer keys
    • Practice questions
  • Adhere to and apply established style guidelines, such as the company style guide, Real Academia Española (RAE) Diccionario panhispánico de dudas, copyeditor guidelines, and AP style to maintain a consistent voice and tone throughout our content.
  • Collaborate closely with content creators to review, suggest, and implement revisions for improved clarity and consistency across items/courses.
  • Proficiently use project management tools, communication tools, and Google Drive, to manage daily tasks, working in tandem with other copyeditors to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, except during exceptionally busy periods.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss updates, address questions, and share insights on ongoing projects.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to refine the style guide and copyeditor guidelines, in order to address recurring issues or improve the overall quality of our content.

You may be a good fit if you have (requirements):

  • 2 or more years of experience copyediting English and Spanish materials
  • Bilingual – fluent in both Latin American Spanish and English
  • Experience with AP style or style guides/manuals in general
  • Quick learner & tech savvy
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style conventions both in English & Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback
  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team, manage schedules, and meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement
  • High standards of integrity and transparency
  • Access to a computer/laptop (with camera) and reliable high-speed internet connection

What makes you stand out (nice-to-haves):

  • Experience with Airtable or other virtual project management tools
  • Previous experience working in education or with an EdTech company
  • Previous remote work experience

Schedule:

  • Copyeditors for Spanish & English are expected to have 5-10 hours of availability each week on a year-round basis.
  • What your schedule looks like is up to you! Morning person? Night owl? Somewhere in between? As long as you are meeting your deadlines and are available for bi-weekly meetings with your supervisor and peers (generally during US business hours), we support the hours that work best for you.
