How you’ll make an impact (position summary):

As the Director of Human Resources, you will be the company’s senior-most HR employee, reporting to the CEO and working closely with other C-level executives such as CFO, COO, and CAO. As the company grows, this role could grow into a CHRO or CPO (Chief People Officer) role based on performance and company needs. 

You will oversee critical HR functions and champion the development and implementation of forward-thinking HR strategies that are tightly aligned with our business objectives. In this pivotal role, you will not only manage the day-to-day operations of the HR department but also spearhead long-term planning initiatives. Your strategic insights and leadership will be crucial as we prepare for continued rapid growth, ensuring we remain agile and well-positioned to capitalize on new opportunities in the evolving educational landscape. 

Over 2 years ago, Miaplaza set up its HR department to focus on fundamental HR practices.  With over 100k applicants per year, the recruiting function has become highly systematic and we have developed other key processes that operate globally related to performance reviews, professional development, compensation and benefits, compliance, and general HR policies. Now, the company is seeking an experienced strategic leader who will build upon and refine the existing work of the HR team and expand the capabilities of the HR function to support the company’s rapid growth.

What you’ll do (responsibilities):

  • Strategic HR Alignment: Support and refine the development and execution of HR strategies that are tightly aligned with the business’s core objectives and future direction.
  • Manage a Skilled Team: Lead a team of 8 experienced in recruitment, compliance, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, and engagement.
  • Refine Talent Acquisition: Guide our talent acquisition team towards a high-caliber recruitment process to secure top talent, supporting growth from 200 to 500-1000 employees within 3-5 years.
  • Optimize Performance and Career Progression: Develop clear career paths to align roles with organizational goals and enhance existing performance management systems to support employee growth.
  • Advance training and development: Spearhead the enhancement of our training initiatives to support employee growth and alignment with strategic business goals.
  • Lead Policy and Compliance: Actively contribute to the development and refinement of HR policies and practices, ensuring compliance and supporting our commitment to a fair and positive work environment.
  • Enhance Company Culture: Foster a supportive and engaging remote work environment that enhances employee satisfaction and wellness, incorporates diversity and equity, and ensures accessibility for all team members.
  • Drive Best Practices for Compensation & Benefits: Establish competitive and transparent compensation and benefits structures that promote pay equity and attract top talent across all levels of the organization.
  • Streamline HR Tools and Processes: Streamline workforce management and enhance data-driven decision-making with the strategic use of HR tools. Currently, the company operates through a PEO, however, the Director of HR will be responsible for evaluating the optimal way of delivering HR services to the company and its employees.

You may be a good fit if you have (requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree required; HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in an HR management role, preferably within a fast-growing company
  • At least 5 years of experience managing an HR team and expertise in various HR functions
  • A pragmatic and business-oriented mindset, with the ability to align HR strategies with overall business goals
  • Strong understanding of employment law, compliance issues, and best practices in HR management, particularly in supporting a global workforce of full-time employees and contractors
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead, empower, and inspire a team
  • Effective project management skills, with the ability to scope, direct, and execute on key HR projects
  • Experience developing strategic plans and pivoting or adapting as priorities shift
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $100,000 – $130,000 with additional Cost of Labor adjustments considered
